Wetscapes

I started this series of large 'wetscapes' several years ago and continue to paint in this style. I begin with action painting, using thinned paint on a large brush to make broad gestural lines. Then I thump the canvas with a hammer to force the beading paint to run. This creates the grid and stripes that the painting is born out of.

Trees and Land

Trees and landscapes have always been the heart of my artwork. I moved to Santa Fe to force myself away from trees, and all I did was paint the prickly New Mexico trees and plants. It must be in my DNA.

Early Works

This large group of work encapsulates my early 20's, when I was discovering my interest in the abstract realm, through my return to Philadelphia where I developed a process and style that I continue to paint with today.

Also included here is a knit collection which was created as 3-dimensional investigations of familiar characters from my paintings. Most of these have wire armatures that were built along with the knitting and can be manipulated into different positions. My love of knitting really blossomed as I made these pieces and I started to prefer working without a pattern.
